Fall 2016 is in full swing, which means your schedule is probably already packed with new assignments, meetings and study sessions. We know keeping track of it all can get a little overwhelming, so we asked avid planner user and Bauer marketing junior Jessica Winterman to share five tips for getting the most out of your #Fall2016 planner.
Jessica’s planner of choice? An Erin Condren planner, available at erincondren.com. “I just love how colorful the EC planner is, as well as how easy it is to customize it,” she says.
According to Jessica, color coordinating is the best way to get the most out of your planner. She uses highlighters to block out class times in her hourly planner, and chooses a different color to highlight upcoming assignments for each of her classes. Color coordinating helps with planning social events, too. “I use a red pen to mark UH or Bauer events,” Jessica says. “And my favorite color orange for personal events like my Texas Dirty Jeep Girls meeting.”
Plan Out Your Month
Planners often come with a few blank pages at the start of the month, which is the perfect spot for jotting down class grades and major assignments. Need more than a couple of pages? Consider purchasing a dry erase insert to plan out each month. “Now I can use these pages for other things, like doodling or writing down a workout plan,” Jessica says. “This is also where I like to take a quick look over my whole month to better prepare myself.”
Using stickers throughout your planner will help your assignments pop off the page, while also making everything more fun and colorful. “The stickers also help you keep up with really anything, from spending money on gas to watching your water intake.” Jessica’s favorite sticker shops? GYSTPlanner and It’sPlanningTime on Etsy.
If Your Planner Has a Side Bar, Use it
“In the Erin Condren planner, there is a section on the side of each week where you can mark off things that need to get done for that week. I also use this side to keep up with my spending, as well as staying on top of my website that I created.”
Make the Most of Your Planner’s Final Pages
Most planners have a section of blank pages at the back, which are perfect for jotting down encouraging notes from friends, listing business addresses or taking notes. “I enjoy using this section to keep up with courses that I have taken at Bauer with the grades I obtained,” Jessica says.
