This is not a moment — it’s the movement.
From the second we heard the snaps that led us into the masterpiece that is “Hamilton: An American Musical,” we’ve pretty much only been speaking in Hamilton quotes. And it’s easy to do. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical is both a retelling of historical events and somehow a peek into our modern-day diary (if we kept one).
To celebrate the opening of the Houston run of the touring show at The Hobby Center, we’ve created graphics of some of our favorite Hamil-quotes, one for each day of the week.
Sunday
A day to be reflective and ponder some of life’s greatest questions: “If you stand for nothing, Burr, what’ll you fall for?”
Monday
On what usually is the roughest day of the week, a quote to remind you that you can do this: “I’m just like my country. I’m young, scrappy and hungry, and I am not throwing away my shot.”
Tuesday
Motivate yourself to starting checking all those things off your to-do list: “There’s a million things I haven’t done. Just you wait. Just you wait.”
Wednesday
It’s tempting to let the middle of the week get you down, but words from Hamilton’s George Washington will remind you what you’re capable of: “I know that we can win. I know that greatness lies in you. But remember from here on in, history has its eyes on you.”
Thursday
In order to get to Friday, you’ve gotta get through Thursday: “I don’t wanna fight, but I won’t apologize for doin’ what’s right.”
Friday
Keep your eyes on the prize, even as the work/school week wraps up: “What is legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”
Saturday
Oh hello there, Best Day of the Week: “Will they know what you overcame? Will they know you rewrote the game?”
