This year? It’s been quite the whirlwind. While we’re sad to see it go, we’re also happy to look back at the last 12 months to reflect on all the accomplishments of #UHBauer faculty, students, alumni and friends.
We’ve covered a ton of these stories in Inside Bauer magazine, the Latest News section of the Bauer website and here on WhereAwesomeHappens.com, but believe it or not, there are even more successes to share from 2018, and we’re using this week’s blog post for a little review.

ACCY Students Earn BKD Scholarships

Undergraduate students from the Department of Accountancy & Taxation were awarded a scholarship from the BKD Accounting Education Fund.
Oscar Lara, Jose Martinez, Ashley McGrew, Damilola Oshungbohun, Muhammad Usama, Thalia Valdovinos, and Oluwatamilore Ayo-Idowu were awarded $2,500 each from the fund.
Beginning in 2001, the BKD Accounting Education Fund gives scholarships to accounting students based on financial need and academic achievements.
“Thanks to BKD associates and their gifts to the BKD Accounting Education Fund, we are able to assist deserving accounting students each year with financial need stay in school,” Instructional Assistant Professor and Director of Accounting Programs Michael Newman said. “BKD’s generosity and willingness to ‘pay it forward’ has helped, and continues to help, these accounting students graduate and go on to become CPAs.”
