As business students, it is important to not only know about accounting and finance, but also to know about yourself. It’s critical for students to recognize their talents and abilities in order to show them off when they secure that job interview. This is exactly what students who attended the first-ever Bauer StrengthsQuest Series learned recently.
On Thursday, September 27th, twenty-two students attended the Bauer StrengthQuest Series. The event was hosted by Tierra Walters, Program Manager for Student Engagement and Allison Keithly, Program Manager for Leadership Initiatives. The event was focused on the CliftonStrengths assessment – an internationally known leadership inventory developed by the Gallup Organization. The CliftonStrengths assessment emphasizes the importance of recognizing your individual talents them and using them to leverage success in the workplace, classroom, and your personal life. The goal is to recognize your strengths and know how you can use them to be the best version of yourself.
During this two hour event, participants had a chance to delve into their results from the CliftonStrengths assessment with individual feedback from Tierra and Allison. They had the opportunity to engage in discussions with their peers and to participate in activities to help them further understand their assessment results. All students were taught ways they could use the insights from their assessment to help them be more successful in job interviews, internships, and work teams.
This was the first-ever event focused on CliftonStrengths within the Bauer College. Tierra and Allison intend to host more workshops like it in the future.
