There are fewer things more satisfying than finding the perfect podcast — an audio accompaniment to your commute, workout or study break. The best podcasts are part instructional, part insightful and fully entertaining.
Our favorite podcast? We might be (just a little) biased, but we’re big fans of #UHBauer’s own Working Wisdom podcast, which launches a new episode each Tuesday, featuring a conversation between Bauer College students, alumni, faculty and friends about their personal journeys and paths to success.
The #WorkingWisdom podcast has more than 30 episodes to date, and at least that many takeaways. Here are four of our favorite lessons learned from conversations in the podcast.
On Authenticity
“I think personal branding is about understanding what value you bring and being able to communicate it effectively so that it works for the person you are speaking to, in interview, committee, promotion, a sale.” – Amy Vandaveer, Senior Professor of Practice, Marketing
On Confidence
“You have, if you’re in any managerial role in an organization, a workforce that you would like to see be successful and productive and the good folks stay with you. When you want to hire new folks, you want them to see that your current workforce is happy and being well-utilized.” – Betsy Gelb, Marvin Hurley Professor in Business Administration
On Facing Fear
“Going forward without fear recognizing that your biggest mistakes will be your biggest lessons, if you keep that in mind, everything is a lot less scary and more manageable.” – Emma Armer (BBA ’17), Sales Analyst, Shell Americas Aviation Lubricants
On Diversity
“I think it’s like any diversity question. When you have people from different backgrounds and experiences, there will be a richness in the decision making process than when it’s everybody that has the same perspective.” – Jamie Belinne, Assistant Dean, Career Services, Rockwell Career Center
