If you’re an undergraduate, transitioning into college life may feel a bit tricky — #adulting for maybe the first time and learning how to navigate “the real world,” all while making great grades and committing to a million or so extracurricular activities.
And if you’re a grad student, you may be learning how to fit the path to another degree into an already busy schedule with work, family and other obligations.
Help is on the way, in the form of 5 Life Hacks to Master the College Experience from #UHBauer social media ambassadors, sharing their tips on everything from time management to avoiding “hangry” stress.
You’re Not You When You’re Hungry.
You are never too old for a lunch box! (You can find so many cute ones now, too.) By packing your own lunch not only do you save money, but you shed pounds as well. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water!

Write It Down.
The most important accessory as a college student is a planner! Find a planner that fits your style & your aesthetic, but more importantly, a planner that will encourage you to succeed. I use a planner to write down everything in my life, such as next week’s exam to things like coffee dates with friends.

Find Your Place (Literally).
My Coog Hack has definitely been taking advantage of CBB 5th floor Quiet Hall. That place allows me to zone in on my work. I typically get a corner seat so there is only one person next to me.

Waitlisted? There’s An App for That.
One of my favorite college life hacks is the app Coursicle! If you are put on waitlist or see that a class you wanted is full, you can track the availability of the class on this app. The minute someone drops the class, it sends you a notification that the class is open so you can enroll!

Use Excel to Excel!
Use an excel spreadsheet to create your weekly schedule and to keep up with all assignments. Include everything that will be the same each week — classes, work, meetings, meals, workout routines. On a second sheet, input every assignment for the semester in due-date order (pull the information from your syllabi). After I started doing this my junior year, I had a clearer sense of what times of the week were flexible for studying and socializing. My anxiety levels decreased dramatically and I became more efficient and happier. My grades even improved!
