Y’all, it’s going to be hot. Really hot. Don’t let this mild spring fool you. Houston summer is no joke, and it’s coming.
We asked ambassadors of our first-ever #UHBauer Social Media Team to weigh in on what keeps them cool in the dog days of summer, and they’re sharing 6 Refreshing Drinks to Cool You Off This Summer down below. (Spoiler alert: they’re not all iced!)
“Jarritos, from any La Taqueria location.” The soda brand’s tagline is “super good,” and we can attest to that. They offer flavors including mandarin, strawberry, lime, tamarind, guava, grapefruit, fruit punch, cola, pineapple and mandarin.
“Hazelnut steamer from Starbucks. Choosing one favorite drink is a tough decision for me because there are a lot of delicious recipes out there! This morning, however, the wind speeds were 19 mph, so I was feeling pretty chilly — a hazelnut steamer hit the spot! Aside from the warmth on a cold day and the sweet taste, hazelnut steamers are one of my favorite drinks because they are nostalgic; when I was a kid I usually ordered hazelnut steamers when my mom got coffee at Starbucks. Those memories come back to me whenever I order a steamer. The one in this photo is from Maddens Casual Gourmet, a neat restaurant in downtown Bryan, Texas.”
“My favorite refreshing drink would definitely have to be Starbucks’ caramel macchiato with an extra shot of espresso. It’s cooling and full of caffeine, which makes it the perfect drink for me!”
“My favorite drink is Yakult! Yakult is a fermented skimmed milk drink that helps improve digestion and build immunity. The red one is the original version, and the blue one on the right is the light version with less sugar. I got these from the Japanese festival at Hermann Park this past weekend (FOR FREE)! You can also purchase them at Chinese grocery stores or Japanese supermarkets in Houston.”
“My favorite drink is grapefruit juice. As weird as that sounds, I love grapefruits, and I really enjoy the tangy flavor when it’s all squeezed — it’s my ‘caffeine’ fix in the healthiest way possible. The best grapefruit juice I have ever had is at The Ivy in Los Angeles, CA.”

“My favorite refreshing drink is Strawberry Fanta. The Fanta brand was originally created in Germany by a Coca-Cola bottling factory. I love Strawberry Fanta because it’s such a refreshing way for me to satisfy my sweet tooth and love for my favorite fruit, strawberries!”
